Here is a solution found on steam:

Haash's Guide to fixing CS:S - The 14th October 2011 edition.

- Navigate to your steamapps folder. This is usually C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/YOURUSERNAME/Counter Strike Source/cstrike
- Delete the folder that is named "bin"
- Close the window

- Now in the icon tray(near the clock) click the steam icon
- Select library
- Find Counter-Strike: Source and right click it
- Click properties
- Click the "Local Files" tab up the top
- Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
- Let that run

- Now close steam and re-login.
- CS:S is now working! Success!

Thanks

  1. Uninstalling and Reinstalling the software solved my problem although it took too much longer time to download fully from the Valve Steam.
